About Us

The Firm of Macdonald Henderson was formed in Glasgow over twenty years ago. Morinne Macdonald, who had previously been a partner in a larger Glasgow commercial firm, wanted to establish a corporate and commercial practice providing a quality legal service to commercial clients, with the emphasis on pro-active commercially based advice. Since its inception the firm's client base has grown substantially. Amongst our clients are property developers, large and small businesses, banks, brewers and a significant number of large corporate clients (including PLCs) and private investors.

With effect from 1st March 2006 the firm of Macdonald Henderson incorporated as a limited liability company under the name Macdonald Henderson Limited, company number SC284173 with registered office Standard Buildings, 94 Hope Street, Glasgow, G2 6PH.

In addition with effect from the incorporation of Macdonald Henderson, corporate associate David Beveridge was appointed a director of the Company. David can be contacted at db@macdonaldhenderson.co.uk.

The board of directors of Macdonald Henderson Limited therefore comprises Morinne Macdonald, David Beveridge and Ian Anderson.

We are committed to providing high levels of service which must include continuity of contact from the instruction stage through to settlement/completion. We have a pro-active approach to legal issues.

Successful relationships are based on good communication on both sides. Just as we should communicate to you how your legal transaction is progressing, the costs which will be attached to it, and our advice on strategy, we require our clients to communicate to us the following:-

a) The timescales within which they expect a result to be achieved. These should be realistic and communicated to us at the earliest possible date.

b) Their expectations regarding communications. Some clients expect detailed progress reports; others are happy with general updates.

c) Their expectations regarding price. If you are operating to a strict budget, you should tell us. It may be that a particular transaction cannot be achieved for your target figure. However, perhaps we can tackle things in a different way to achieve roughly the same result at a lower cost.

d) If you are unhappy in any way at the level of service being provided, we would want to know about it as soon as possible. We do not want our first awareness of a problem to be a query on our fee note.

e) We would like our fees paid promptly, or if this is likely to be an issue, a payment plan put in place before the transaction is completed.

f) We would like to be put in touch with the other members of your team. Most commercial transactions involve an element of tax planning and / or have a financial implication, and it helps us if we can communicate direct with your accountants, tax advisors, or other relevant professionals.
