Further Detail:

Michael Hankinson, Dispute Resolution Director -

Michael is a hugely experienced court room lawyer who aligns a wealth of litigation practice with a strong instinct for the objectives of his clients. Combining legal skills and knowledge with a practical/cost effective approach, Michael provides clear and decisive advice to clients when they find themselves in difficult situations - from having an outstanding invoice which needs to be recovered; to having purchased a multi-million pound business but not receiving what they bargained for and requiring compensation; or falling victim to a cyber fraud and losing hundreds of thousands of pounds which need to be recouped.

The range of clients that Michael acts for include businesses and people in business, insolvency practitioners, and individuals. When necessary, Michael represents the interests of clients in courts and tribunals, but also achieves positive results through other means such as negotiation and, mediation.

Fraser Morrison, Corporate Director

Fraser has been appointed Commercial Director and In-house Legal Counsel of The HALO Urban Regeneration Company, developer of the innovative, multipurpose project planned for the site of the former Johnnie Walker bottling plant in Kilmarnock, having worked on the HALO project since 2016.

Fraser will continue in his role as a director of Macdonald Henderson, working with the firm’s outstanding SME client base.

As an award winning corporate and commercial solicitor, Fraser has a wealth of experience working with high-growth technology companies and investment syndicates on the legal and commercial aspects of investment.

Fraser’s knowledge of commercialisation and the development of innovation and technology will prove particularly invaluable as The HALO develops its Enterprise and Innovation Hub.

Colm Kerr, Corporate Solicitor

Colm graduated in June 2016 with an Honours law degree from Strathclyde University, and works in the firm’s corporate team. Colm hit the ground running at Macdonald Henderson.

Initially carrying out detailed contract reviews and diligence exercises, Colm provides invaluable support and increasingly is lead advisor on acquisitions, disposals, investments and management buy-outs - all handled with an assuredness and dexterity which belies this early stage of his career.

His work on complicated demergers and restructures of sizeable SME businesses has earned him plaudits from clients and peers (both legal and accountancy) alike. Colm’s terrific inter-personal skills and attention to detail are assets for the firm.

Hilary Malone, Corporate Solicitor

Hilary joins Macdonald Henderson from large Scottish commercial law firm Brodies in 2019. Hilary is experienced in a wide variety of corporate matters including advising clients on private equity investments and general corporate governance issues.

Recognising her skills in this area, Hilary served a year’s secondment to Scottish Enterprise, working in the busy SE Transaction Team.

Having studied politics and history at Glasgow University before studying law, and having spent a year at the University of Toronto, Hilary brings a fresh and eclectic approach to the business of law, and excels in delivering advice and support to the firm’s corporate and commercial client base.

Annemarie Aitken, Conveyancing Paralegal

Annmarie joins the firm from a major city centre law practice. Annemarie is a qualified commercial property paralegal who has vast experience in both commercial and residential property matters.

Annmarie has almost 30 years’ experience as a key member of a busy property team focusing on delivery of excellent client service with acute attention to detail. Annmarie’s commitment to delivering the best level of client care makes her ideally placed to support the residential conveyancing team at Macdonald Henderson in meeting the needs of all of our clients;

Comment from Macdonald Henderson:

Managing Director David Beveridge commented:
“We are proud to welcome Hilary and Annemarie to the firm, as well as recognise the excellence of our existing team in the promotions of Michael and Colm.

In addition, the appointment of Fraser to the board of the Halo is a first for Macdonald Henderson, and cements our firm’s partnership with this leading development project.

I’d further highlight the promotion of Michael to director with the firm, reflecting Michael’s terrific contribution to the growth in reputation and strength of our firm’s commercial dispute team, alongside Alan (McKee).

We continue to observe opportunities for growth in our key practice areas as well as a continued positive sentiment towards investment and growth within our client base and the wider advisory community.

We are grateful for the continued support of our clients, contacts and friends in business".
