Macdonald Henderson earned runners up honours at the 2nd Annual BDO Football Tournament.

The event, hosted by BDO took place at Power League Glasgow on Friday 29th June 2012.

The tournament was Euro 2012 themed as the 16 participants were allocated a county, placed in the actual groups and provided with shirts in their colours. Macdonald Henderson was allocated the Azzuri of Italy and this turned out to have a measure of prophecy.

After negotiating a tough group to qualify in 1st place overcame a goal deficit in the quarter finals to set up a semi final with favourites, BDO Corporate Recovery. After a bit of good fortune (the ref missing a blatant penalty against us) MH managed to take the tie to penalties and won the shoot out 2-0.

The physical exertions took their toll on the 5 man squad though and after 5 games in the pouring rain MH come up short with a narrow 2-1 defeat by Pincent Masons in the final. Congratulations must go to them and they were worthy winners. The MH squad were able to offset the disappointment with well earned pint and food from the barbeque.

A big thank you goes to our hosts BDO for their flawless hospitality on the day. It was a terrific event which was played in a true sporting spirit by all.

Team captain Alan McKee would like to thank our guest stars David Nellany of Digby Brown, Douglas Pate from RBS and Mark Duffy from BP for their outstanding performances on the day.

Training is already underway for next season.
