We are delighted to advise that Macdonald Henderson has appointed two trainee solicitors who join the firm with effect from 1st September 2013.

Alasdair Swanson graduated from Glasgow University in June 2012 with a First in Law and French Language. He spent the third year of the LLB course studying at Lyon 3 University in France where he sat exams on all aspects of the French legal system in French.
Alasdair has a keen interest in sport, particularly golf and football. He played for Glasgow University FC (First XI) during his studies and was part of the team that competed in the first round of last year's Scottish Cup against Selkirk FC (2012), and was further awarded Player’s Player of the Year by the GU football team in 2012.

Dominique McErlane Dominique studied law at the University of Edinburgh subsequently undertaking her diploma in legal practice at Strathclyde University.
During her time at Strathclyde University Dominique became involved with the Strathclyde University Law Clinic, which aims to provide members of the public with legal advice and assistance which they could not otherwise afford. Her contribution and support resulted in Dominique delivering a number of favourable outcomes on behalf of the Law Clinic clients. Following her time at university Dominique worked as a paralegal for a small legal firm where she gained valuable experience in many areas of private legal practice.

Macdonald Henderson is delighted to be in a position to make these trainee appointment. With the legal sector in Scotland continuing to face significant challenges and a great deal of fluidity, the plight of the hundreds of graduates unable to find positions is one of great concern to the profession.

Macdonald Henderson sees this step as the optimum way of ensuring growth and succession in our business – the success of our former trainee and recently appointed associate director Louise Hamilton being a prime example. In this way, we hope to be appointing not only great trainees, but future leaders of our business.
